The
CBNP volunteers, who are the residents of this Grama Panchayath
are motivated and used to organise neighbourhood groups along with
the community organisers and facilitators. After the formation of
67 NHGs, 40 scheme sites were identified where the drinking water
scarcity is a serious problem.
This GP has a good network of public stand posts through two major
water supply schemes of DANIDA and KWA. These schemes provide 235
public taps and 140 house connections in all around the Grama Panchayath.
But, due to lack of proper planning in identifying water sources
for these projects majority of the taps are dry and the users have
doubts whether the new scheme will yield better results. It is to
be noted seriously that more than 7 crores, had been spent for the
completion of these two schemes covering Nediyiruppu and Kondotty
GPs. The apprehensions of the beneficiaries were cleared slowly
by building awareness before launching the new scheme aided by the
World Bank with the involved participation of the community at every
stage. Now, 14 beneficiary groups have come forward with confidence
to take up water supply schemes for their own. For all the 14 projects,
CEPs have been prepared, scrutinised and IPQA signed.
